ello Milotto was born in Trieste in 1927 of Istrian parents. The family returned to Istria when he was a small boy. Nello graduated from the middle school of music in Zagreb and completed his studies on composition under Professor Blaz Arnic at the Music Academy in Ljuljana.

After his graduation, he became professor of music at the Italian high school (Gymnasium) and after that he taught the clarinet and solfeggio in the middle music school “Ivan Matetic Ronjgov” in Pula, where he also became the musical director. Since 1977, he has been a professor at the Pedagogic Faculty in Rijeka[and the ?] department for educational activities in Pula. For over 50 years, he has been a conductor of amateur choruses in Pula and Pazin - "Lino Mariani" and "Matko Brajsa Rasan" in Pola, and "Rozenice" in Pazin which has been highly successful in Croatia and abroad.

The choir "Roženice" (its name derives from the ancient istrian musical instrument called roženice) was founded on March 14, 1979. in Pazin (Istria, Croatia). Nello Milotti was its choir master from the group's inception up to the end of 2002. During the first ten years, the choir had many performances in various concerts and national choir contests that wer eorganized in various cities all over Croatia (Poreč, Rijeka, Zadar, Zagreb, Osijek, Vrbovec). The number of performances per year varied from 15 to 20. In 1987, the choir produced its first LP.  In 1988, the choir made its first  performance abroad - Biella, Italy - where it took part in an international concert organized by the mail choir Pietro Mica. Since than, choir performed another ten times in various cities of northern Italy (Sidilis di Tarcento, Negrar, Ponte di Piave, Padova, Monastier di Treviso, an others). Particularly memorable was the experience and the performance during choir"s four visits (1991., 1995., 1999, 2002.) to their friends, the choir of Lembek (Münsterland, Germany).

The "Roženice" Choir performs various types of choral music, with or without being accompanied by piano or other instruments, of Croatian and foreign music authors for chorus, performing in various languages: German, Spanish, Italian, English, Russian, Latin and Croatian. Particularly, choir performs pieces based on a particular istrian scale, unique worldwide, which inspired maestro Nello Milotti to write many pieces for the Choir. The number of pieces performed since 1979. is over 350.

As a composer, Maestro Milotti has been involved in all aspects of music from popular (he is a permanent participant at MIK and a winner of many first places) to choral, instrumental, sacral, and even theatrical scenery for children. As a composer he has written many pieces for choirs, orchestras, piano and solo singers.In his compositions he is inspired by the rich sources of Istrian folk music, as well as Croatian and Italian music. He has won numerous prizes and recognition both nationally and internationally. His most famous vocal and instrumental opus is “Istrian Legend” , which is a cantata for solos, mixed chorus and a symphony orchestra, “Sipe piva” (Sipe is singing -?) for chorus and piano, “Bura”, for a female chorus and piano (he received first place in Trieste). His instrumental music: Obala (Coast) – a symphony poem, “Zidovi Nazakcija” (Jews of Nazactium) (first place in Trieste) –a concert for clarinet and orchestra, concert for guitar (second place in Trieste) and so on.

Nello Milotti lives and works in Pula.

PAZIN - U pazinskom Spomen domu večeras u 19 sati počinje koncertni spektakl »Eviva Milotti - Ilubiaeum 2007.«. Ovim koncertom obilježava se 80. rođendan renomiranog istarskog skladatelja Nella Milottija, stoga će cjelokupni repertoar biti sastavljen od njegovih skladbi zabavnog karaktera.

Na pozornici će Milottijeve pjesme večeras pjevati Lidija Percan, Zdenka Kovačiček, Sergio Pavat, Alen Vitasović, Damir Kedžo, Anelidi, Đani Stipaničev, Maja Blagdan, Alen Lazarić, Đani Maršan, Tina Vukov, Vesna Nežić-Ružić, Zoran Tomaić, Bruno Krajcar i drugi. Koncert organiziraju gradovi Pula i Pazin u suradnji s Istarskom županijom, a realizacija je povjerena agenciji za glazbenu i književnu produkciju O sole mio. Ulaz je besplatan.
