Sydney Sydney and Roma were rebuilt from WW2 escort carriers in 1948-51. They carried 800 passengers on the Italy-Australia route. Roma was scrapped in 1967, and Sydney then took this name and was used on Mediterranean cruising. She was sold in 1968 and broken up in 1975.
