Founded in 1959 by a group of soccer enthusiasts from the area of Koromacno in southeastern Istria, this club soon became a center of sports and social activities for Istrians of New York and shelter from the unknown for newcomers from Istria. After moving from Manhattan to Queens, and after outgrowing rented space, fifty members of the Club pooled their resources and purchased the building at 28-09 Astoria Boulevard. Today the Club, with the nearby soccer field, has facilities for soccer, bocce, card & chess playing, dining, partying, meetings, celebrations, etc. While different people find different things to enjoy at I.S.C, soccer has remained the #1 organized activity and the Club is currently represented by two youth and two senior teams. Klub koji je 1959. godine osnovala grupa ljubitelja nogometa iz okolice Koromacna u jugoistocnoj Istri, ubrzo je postao sredistem sportskih i drustvenih aktivnosti Istrana iz Njujorka kao i skloniste od nepoznatog za one koji su jos dolazili. Kad se nakon preseljenja iz Manhattana u Queens javila potreba za vecim prostorijama za okupljanje i aktivnosti, grupa od 50 clanova udruzila je novcana sredstva i kupila zgradu na danasnjoj adresi, 28-09 Astoria Boulevard. Uskoro zatim, nakon osnivanja nogometnog podmlatka, izgradjeno je i nogometno igraliste. Klupske prostorije pruzaju mogucnosti za bocanje, kartanje i sah, druzenje, objed, zabave i sastanke. Iako se clanovi zabavljaju na razne nacine, nogomet ostaje i dalje glavna sportska disciplina. Klub ove godine nastupa s dvije seniorske ekipe i dvije ekipe podmlatka. Istrian Realty Corporation Istrian Realty Corporation (IRC) was founded in 1974 with the purpose of buying property at 28-09 Astoria Blvd., Astoria, NY, to be used for social activities of Istria Sport Club. The original shareholders were people from the club, and practically all surviving "founding fathers" of Istria Sport Club. The corporation led by Nevio Dobry, Aldo Diminich and others, put enormous efforts into the acquisition and then renovation of the old building. Since there was no money in club treasury and no means of earning any, the greatest part of the work was done by volunteers. Although the composition of the IRC membership has somewhat changed over the years, all shareholders are also club members, and thus very supportive of Istria Sport Club. They are frequent visitors to the club restaurant and card playing section, and hold their shareholders' meetings and annual dinner dance there. Istrian Realty Corporation (IRC) je formirana 1974. godine sa svrhom kupovine zemljista sa zgradom na adresi 28-09 Astoria Blvd., Astoria, NY, a sa svrhom osiguranja drustvenih prostorija za potrebe Istria Sport Club-a. Ulagaci su bili ljudi iz kluba ukljucujuci prakticki sve prezivjele osnivace "Istre". Korporacija, koju su tada vodili Nevio Dobri i Aldo Diminich ulozila je ogromne napore u kupovinu zgrade, sredjivanje dokumentacija i kasnije njenu potpunu obnovu i prosirenje. Buduci da je klupska blagajna bila prazna a mogucnosti da klub sam privredjuje nepostojece, najveci dio posla obavljen je dobrovoljnim radom clanova. Iako se sastav korporacije do danas promijenio svi dionicari su i clanovi kluba kojega aktivno podrzavaju u svim aspektima daljnjeg prilagodjavanja zgrade klupskim portrebama. Clanovi korporacije su redovni posjetioci klupskog restorana i kartasi, a tu odrzavaju i svoje dionicarske sastanke i godisnju zabavu. Lidia's Restaurants

To this date he ran 20 consecutive NYC Marathons, all major world marathons, to
the top of Empire State Building, in the Arctic Circle and Antarctica, and the
most recent one in the Himalayas. Last year, as he was getting ready to run his
20th NYC Marathon, Nevio was featured in a promotional spot on NBC TV. His rich
career was also featured in Newsday and Runner magazine. Before becoming
marathon runner Nevio played soccer, just like Ivan Stanic did, and was one of
the founders of New York's Istria Sport Club. He was three term president of the
Club and one of its most active volunteers for many years. Now, as in 1997, when
Stanic came to run NYC Marathon, Nevio offered his younger collegue from Istria
all the help he may need. As for the future challenges, Nevio's intends to run a
marathon on every continent. Since the hardest one to reach was Antarctica, and
that was done in 1999, the remaining three, Australia, Africa and South America,
now seem to be within easy reach. Not many runners have run a marathon on every
continent (maybe 8 runners overall so far). The most challenging one will be
"The Andes" in Chile. When he gets there Nevio promises to post more
signs pointing toward Istria, just as he did on the Antarctica and other places
before. Nevio Dobry i sam ima iza sebe izvanrednu maratonsku karijeru. Natjecao se na svih 30 Njujorskih maratona, na najpoznatijim svjetskim maratonima, do vrha Empire State Building-a, u Arktickom krugu, na Antarktimu i nedavno na Himalaji. Prosle godine, dok se pripremao za svoj 30-ti Njujorski predstavljen je najsiroj TV publici reklamnim spotovima za taj veliki dogadjaj. Njegova bogata karijera opisana je nedavno u dnevniku "Newsday" if u casopisu "Runner". Nevio se, poput Ivana, u mladosti bavio nogometom, i jedan je od osnivaca Istria Sport Club-a u Njujorku. Tri je puta biran za predsjednika ovog kluba i dao je ogroman doprinos u kriticnim godinama njegovog razvitka. Founded in 1977, Rudar Club is one of the youngest among Istrian clubs in New York area, but at the same time one of the most vibrant and one with very close ties to the world which its founders and their followers came from - the once coal mining region of Labinstina. Rudar soccer team, folk-dance group and individual members are frequent visitors to Istria, and the Club often plays host to soccer teams, athletes, singers and professionals from the "old country". Beside the soccer team which competes with great success and vitality in the over-30 division of The Long Island Soccer Leaggue, Rudar is the home and school of parhaps the only Istrian folk-dance group in this part of the world. Finally, the Club houses a tastefully decorated restaurant serving delicacies of Istrian cuisine and other fine food. Osnovan 1977, Rudar je jedan od mladjih istarskih klubova u Njujorku i okolici, ali u isto vrijeme jedan od najzivljih i s vrlo tijesnim vezama sa krajem iz kojega su dosli njegovi osnivaci i clanovi, s donedavno rudarskom Labinstinom. Nogometna ekipa, folklorna grupa "Mali rudar" i clanovi pojedinacno cesti su pposjetioci Istre, a klub cesto pruza gostoprimstvo nogometnim klubovima, atleticarima, pjevacima i strucnjacima is "starog kraja". Pored nogometne ekipe, koja se s mnogo uspjeha i vitalnosti takmici u klasi "preko 30" Long Island lige, klub Rudar je dom i skola mozda jedine istarske folklorne grupe u ovom dijelu svijeta. Konacno, u klubu se nalazi ukusno uredjen restoran u kojem se sluze specijaliteti domace istarske kuhinje i druga popularna jela.
